Attleboro Farms was founded in 1975. With two hundred dollars and the desire to become truly independent, Ray Aubin began a farm and seed supply business (at the current site of Showcase Cinemas on route 1 in North Attleboro) immediately following college. Servicing the farms in the ’70?s was quite a challenge in itself. It became evident that we had to package some type of value-added component to our offering or we could not compete and be profitable going forward. As a result, we began growing and selling plants for homes and gardens. As the agrarian segment declined and our rural vistas became single-family houses, we saw an opportunity to service more fully a different market demographic. We already sold plants and fertilizers to local farms, so it was not much of a leap to enter the homeowner/landscaper market.
