Grow, Sell & Eat Local!

FRA was established in April of 2006 by a small group of residents hoping to improve the community of Farmingville. Our group is comprised of residents from all ethnicities and cultural communities working together for common goals. Since our inception, our group organized several events in the community, including Beautification Clean-Up events from October of 2006 – April of 2011. These events were wonderful, and were a great opportunity for residents of our community to work together in a positive way to improve Farmingville. The community planted various plants, spread fresh mulch, cleaned the streets, and added 12 new planters to the downtown Farmingville area. In November of 2006, Newsday featured our organization in an article entitled, “Looking To Heal Wounds”. Our group also participated with the Farmingville Fire Department in the 2006 December Holiday Parade. We assisted with serving refreshments and collecting canned food for families within our community. In August of 2007, we organized the First Annual Farmingville Community Celebration Day. The event was a huge success, as was the Second Annual Community Celebration Day held in August of 2008. We held a “picnic in the park” event on August 2, 2009 for the Third Annual Community Day. On August 29th, 2010, we teamed up with the Farmingville Historical Society for Community Day at Farmingville Hills County Park. These events have been a wonderful opportunity for the community to celebrate its rich cultural diversity with good food, fun, and entertainment. We are currently engaged in the Farmingville Visioning Project with the Town of Brookhaven. This program will give residents the opportunity to share their vision of what Farmingville should be. Brookhaven Town has been very supportive of our efforts. We will continue our good working relationship with the town on issues affecting our community. It is our hope that all residents of Farmingville can unite and work side by side on a variety of issues.
