Grow, Sell & Eat Local!

The Hattie Carthan Community Farmers Market is a grassroots community revitalization project in Central Brooklyn NYC founded by woman farmer Yonnette Fleming in 2009 . The market seeks to create a healthy community where each member has access to fresh food and the resources required to grow and distribute it in the Bedford Stuyvesant community. The community based/led market accomplishes its mission through increasing access to fresh food ,providing gardening, composting, nutrition, cultural competence and food justice education to youths, elders and community residents. The community based/led market is a community hub where residents from 1 - 100 years old gather to organize and deepen their connection to the environment ,each other and their food .
