Mission Our mission is to bring farm-fresh, REAL food to our neighborhood, and to have fun doing it. Company Overview Bushwick Farmers' Market is a project of EcoStation:NY, a Bushwick-based nonprofit organization dedicated to urban agriculture, food justice, and healthy, sustainable communities. At Bushwick Farmers' market, we work with regional farms (mostly immigrant family owned), to bring fresh, nutritious food to the neighborhood, an area where rates of poverty and preventable, diet-related illness are high. Access to healthy food is everyone's right, and eating right is one way all of us can literally empower ourselves. Our debut in 2009 was strong thanks to some great teamwork and some devout and much-appreciated volunteers. The outpouring of support for the market was just great. In 2010 we took it to the next level, and began growing for the market ourselves at the all-organic Secret Garden Farm, located at the Linden-Bushwick Community Garden. We grew from one market to three, conducted extensive community outreach, produced some inter-generational, cross-cultural, educational, fun, and delicious events - and had a heck of a time doing it! In 2011, we continued our mission, running into a few roadblocks and having a few brushes with Mother Nature (freak blizzards, hurricanes) - all of which failed to dampen our spirits. In 2012, we expanded our reach into the community by adding two satellite locations to our weekly lineup, bringing the number of our markets to five. In Spring 2013, we will be launching Bushwick Farmers' Market Green Machine, a veggie-oil burning, solar power-assisted market delivery miracle on wheels! Stay tuned for details...
