Grow, Sell & Eat Local!

The building that Miles Farmers Market occupies has been several things since the early 1900?s. The current owner Frank Cangemi has transformed this building with many expansions and 40 years of hard work into what it is today. In 1971 Frank Cangemi opened Miles Farmers Market as a seasonal open air market selling fresh fruits and vegetables. Arriving at the Northern Ohio Food Terminal every morning at 3:00 a.m. and working with local farmers, Frank hand selected the finest fruit and freshest vegetables for his customers as he still does today. Frank worked long hours with the help of his parents, Ben and Dorothy along with his sister Donna to make Miles Farmers Market the vibrant store our customers have come to know. After being open for a few years, cheese and eggs were added to the stores selection. Starting with Amish Swiss, Baby Swiss and New York Cheddar our cheese department today boast over 400 varieties of cheese. Ranging from American Artisan to French Air Specialties and everything in between. For nearly 40 years our famous jumbo eggs still come from the same farm. In addition to our jumbo we have 12 varieties to choose from including brown and organic. Today our dairy department has 32 feet of product with an expanding organic section. In the late 70?s Frank bought the beverage store that was attached to the Market and added a Deli and Bakery. A year later Frank combined the two businesses. The Miles Farmers Market was later known as Miles Farmers Market Deli & Beverage. Starting with one deli case, our Deli has grown into one of the finest deli’s in the area, featuring over 100 meats, 25 cheeses, eight In-House cooked gourmet meats, homemade salads, fresh made sandwiches and a self serve olive bar. Our bake shop started out with fresh baked Italian and Rye bread and a few fruit pies. Today we carry over 30 mouth-watering pies, specialty and decorated cakes, assorted jumbo muffins, pastries and much much more. Our family recipe has been carried thru the years with our Italian and Rye breads. The beverage side of the business has grown into a Wine Spectators “Outstanding Wine Shop” with a large selection of unique and great value wines. Our beer section specializes in microbrews produced locally and from around the nation as well as imported and domestic beers. Frank’s dad Ben had knowledge and expertise in the meat business having owned a butcher shop on Kinsman in Cleveland for over 20 years in addition to being co-owner of Lou’s Sausage. He convinced Frank to add fresh hand-cut strip steaks and freshly ground chuck to our market. Who would have known years later Miles Farmers Market custom cut Butcher Shop would be featuring Certified Angus Beef, Ohio Raised Pork, All Natural Ohio Raised Chicken, homemade sausage, fresh seafood and a large variety of prepared oven ready and grillable entrees. In 1991 Frank searched for just the perfect mouth-watering recipe for his now famous “General Frank’s Chicken”. Requiring one year to reach perfection, Frank gives his guarantee this is the “best” fried chicken you will sink your teeth into! We added BBQ Ribs and Rotisserie Chickens and were now in the prepared foods business. For breakfast, lunch or dinner our Bistro Chefs are here for you. An intimate dinner or a party for 200, our chefs can help you create where your imagination is our only limit. Miles Farmers Market also has a beautiful Floral Department with a colorful array of fresh Bouquets and Flowers, a large selection of Houseplants and all the seasonal plants and decorations you will need to fill your home and garden. Our specialty grocery department has always been known for the hard to find ingredients and products. Over the years our customers, through their travels have been introduced to products they have asked us to track down for them to enjoy at home. Miles Farmers Market is always up on the latest cooking trends to make sure our customers are on the cutting edge. Rounding out our store we have also added our Fresh Roasted Coffee Beans and Frozen food section.
