Grow, Sell & Eat Local!

The SFC Farmers' Markets are a project of the Sustainable Food Center (SFC), a local 501 (c)(3) non-profit that creates opportunities for individuals to make healthy food choices and to participate in a vibrant, local food system. Currently we host four of the largest weekly farmers' markets in the state of Texas: - Downtown (Saturdays) at Republic Square Park - Sunset Valley (Saturdays) at the Toney Burger Center - East (Tuesdays) at the YMCA at 51st and Hwy 183 - Triangle (Wednesdays) at the Triangle (46th and Lamar) Our markets are attended by a selection of more than 100 vendors, including local farms and artisans. A wide variety of community members participated in the formation of the original Downtown market in the spring of 2002, including potential consumers, farmers, vendors, business people, government officials and community leaders, with help from a City of Austin feasibility study grant. We received an overwhelmingly positive response and the market was deemed a viable venture. On May 3, 2003, the SFC Farmers' Market Downtown opened to a bustling crowd of 3,500, which propelled SFC Farmers' Market into the top 10% of markets in the nation. Since then we have expanded across Austin to serve our diverse community!
