Grow, Sell & Eat Local!

We are a non-profit, small town farmers' market, and our goal is to link local producers with local customers. The healthiest, best-tasting, and most environmentally responsible products are those that are produced locally. Local producers also provide things that may not be available in supermarkets. Are you interested in heirloom tomato varieties - you won't find them at WalMart. How about French Tarragon or Lemon Basil? They can be found at the farmers' market. Any special reqests? Stop by and ask our vendors - there is a good chance that they will make every effort to satisfy you. If it's too late to plant something you want this year, they may be able to plant it next year. Farmers’ markets are one of the oldest forms of direct marketing. From the traditional “mercados” in the Peruvian Andes to the unique street markets in Asia, growers all over the world gather regularly to sell their produce directly to the public. In the last decade, the number of farmers’ markets has doubled in the United States and in West Virginia; more than 40 markets exist in 30 counties. Store-bought fruits and vegetables, on average, are picked four to seven days before reaching the shelf of your local grocer and have traveled over 1500 miles before being sold. They may have been treated with chemicals and wax to inhibit ripening and to improve their appearance after their long trip.
