Grow, Sell & Eat Local!

After taking a year off to find a new location, the New North End Farmers Market has returned — this in the parking lot of the Elks Lodge off North Avenue. The market has a 10-year history, starting at Ethan Allen Park and then the North Avenue Alliance Church. Steve and Anna Niemiec are long-time volunteers with the market who organized this year’s return. Despite a chilly first day Thursday, a steady stream of shoppers visited the new spot. “We’re really excited about this event,” Steve Niemiec said. The couple are New North End residents, and the drive to re-establish a tradition that brings together neighbors with local businesses appealed to them. “We live here in the New North End,” Anna Niemiec said. “We want to bring together the neighbors and the community.” The market will have 11 vendors throughout the season. On Thursdays from 3 to 6:30 p.m., vendors will sell products ranging from flowers to bread and pastries to vegetables.
